Editor’s notesĪs a leading brand in the fitness tracking space, Fitbit has been in the game since 2007 and has built a reputation for its wearable devices with a focus on fitness and health. Fitbit scored three stars in the remaining categories - durability, user friendliness, design and overall satisfaction. The fitness-focused brand rounded out our ratings, with a score of four stars in both value for money and battery and charging performance. Samsung does also still offer some of its older watches, so if you don’t mind an older device, like the Watch4 series, you can save a bit of money on last year’s tech. The Watch5 Pro offers a bigger screen and longer battery performance, along with a focus on GPS and more advanced features, all for a starting price of $799 AUD. The more basic Watch5 includes a smaller screen, smaller battery and more basic features for a $499 AUD starting price. Samsung’s latest watch series includes the Galaxy Watch5 and the Galaxy Watch5 Pro. Like Apple, the Galaxy watches are typically more on the more expensive end. Each year the brand releases a couple of Galaxy Watch devices, and it typically includes a more basic device and ‘pro’ version. Samsung is similar to Apple in that it offers a simple selection of smartwatches, and under the ‘Galaxy’ name. Samsung scored its only five stars for value for money, while scoring four stars in all other categories - durability, user friendliness, design and battery and charging performance. In third place for our smartwatch and fitness tracker ratings was Samsung, with three stars for overall satisfaction. This watch features all the bells and whistles that Apple has to offer, with a more durable build, larger screen and more accurate GPS. On the more expensive end, Apple offers the Apple Watch Ultra, with a hefty $1,299 AUD starting price point. However, like with many of Apple’s products, its range of smartwatches are typically on the more expensive end.įor the budget-conscious, Apple offers its Apple Watch SE, which is generally a little smaller than the other watches and includes more basic features to account for its cheaper price, starting at $399 AUD.
